For the last 12 months I have been working towards an exhibition of landscape paintings based on 2 periods of residency on the dramatic king island.
In September of this year opening on September 13 I am exhibiting in Gallery 1 at tacit Contemporary Art in Abbotsford Melbourne.
My exhibition will feature large oil paintings on canvas and a series of smaller works based on the sketchbooks and gouache drawings done while I was a resident on the island and as a result of my residency with the King island Cultural Centre. On June 29 I return to the island for a three month period during which time I will be painting and working on a project with other island artists called Painting the Island. The idea is to work Alla Prima focusing on different landscapes of the island and images of island life. we will work in both oil, gouache and acrylic on what supports we have at hand with the aim of a culminating final exhibition.
I am really interested in this documentation of a remote and beautiful landscape and will also be drawing daily posting my own project of 100 days on the island.
Keep looking at this blog of latest news for updates on the progress and discoveries involved in each of these projects.
